George Strait will be on hand to help the Dallas Cowboys kick off their new season on Sunday (Sept. 8).

Strait will serve as an honorary captain for the coin toss prior to kickoff when they open the season against the New York Giants at AT&T Stadium. This will be Strait's second visit to the venue; he also performed there in 2009 as the first event ever held at the stadium.

The following day, on Monday (Sept. 9), Strait will hold a press conference from the stadium, where he is expected to announce the 2014 dates of his farewell The Cowboy Rides Away Tour. That tour began in 2013, and the 2014 leg will mark the final touring dates of Strait's career, though he has left the door open to performing occasional single concerts and special events.

The press conference will stream live at Strait's website, on YouTube and Twitter.

The iconic entertainer is not retiring, however. Strait recently signed a five-album extension deal on his contract with MCA, and he has stated that he still intends to record an album every year. His latest album, ‘Love is Everything,’ debuted at the top of the charts, and Strait recently scored his 60th No. 1 hit.
