Garth, Carrie and Rascal Flatts Lead Country AMA Nominations

You will determine whether it's Garth Brooks, Carrie Underwood or Rascal Flatts who released the best country album of the past year. The 2008 American Music Awards nominees were announced Tuesday, with those three artists leading the pack of country nods, with two each. For the second year in a row, it will be fans who determine the AMA winners by voting online.

Brooks will also compete with Kenny Chesney and Brad Paisley for the title of Favorite Male Country Artist. Underwood is up against Reba McEntire and Taylor Swift for Favorite Female Country Artist. Rascal Flatts is up for Favorite Band, Duo or Group alongside Sugarland and Brooks & Dunn. (See the full list of nominees, after the jump.)

Alicia Keys leads the AMA pack this year with five nominations, as she takes Favorite Female Artist nods in both the Pop/Rock and Soul/R&B categories, along with two Favorite Album nominations and the overall Artist of the Year. The Eagles are right behind Keys with four nominations -- Favorite Band and Favorite Album in the Pop/Rock category, Favorite Artist in the Adult Contemporary category and the overall Artist of the Year.

The Eagles and Swift have both announced performances on the AMA broadcast, which will air live on ABC on November 23. Fans have from now through November 7 to vote on the awards at www.amavote.com.
