He tapped deep into the universal core of the heart of country music with his 1990 No. 1 smash, 'Unanswered Prayers.' Now, Garth Brooks will be reaching even deeper into the hearts of TV viewers across the country, when Lifetime premieres an original movie based on the hit song this fall.

Entertainment Weekly reports that the two-hour made-for-TV movie will be co-produced by Garth and Lisa Sanderson, and shot in Virginia. Eric Close ('Without a Trace') is being cast in the role of the husband who is torn between his wife, played by Samantha Mathis ('Little Women,' 'Broken Arrow'), and his old high-school crush who comes to town, played by Madchen Amick ('Twin Peaks').

Steven Schachter, who won Emmy awards in 2003 for both Directing and Writing for a Miniseries, Movie or a Dramatic Special for 'Door to Door,' will direct 'Unanswered Prayers.'

"Through his music, Garth Brooks is one of the greatest American storytellers ever, and we couldn't be more excited to be working with him on adapting 'Unanswered Prayers' into a major original movie," says Tanya Lopez, Senior VP of Original Movies at Lifetime. "The huge popularity of 'Unanswered Prayers' is proof his work touches so many people."

'Unanswered Prayers' will air on Lifetime in November.
