Tennessee's flood recovery efforts are $5 million richer, thanks to the undeniable star power of Garth Brooks. The entertainer staged nine sold-out shows, held December 16-22 at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena, to raise funds for various charities in and around Nashville. The community continues to rebuild following last May's deadly flood.

"Playing music has never felt better or ever felt more right," said Garth (quote via WSMV.com). "I am really honored to have been a part of this happening."

The money raised through Garth's goodwill went to the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. From there, the foundation allocated almost $1.4 million to the River Fund, who dispersed the money to various flood-related causes. In addition, $659,000 contributed towards home rebuilding efforts, $200,000 was donated to the United Methodist Committee on Relief and $514,795 was allocated to the Community Resource Center, which provides furniture and other living necessities to families still in need.

More money is expected to come in as a result of the efforts. Those wishing to donate to various flood-related causes can visit here for more information on how to help.

Garth told the sold-out audience at his first Nashville fundraising show that he had greatly missed the concert circuit. The Oklahoma native, who appears regularly in Las Vegas, says he plans to do another tour in the future, since he's cleared it with his wife.

"With Miss [Trisha] Yearwood's blessing, I have asked to fire this tour up for one more tour," Garth announced. "I want to do this tour one more time, and she has said yes."

But the doting dad won't gas up the tour bus until all three of his daughters are in college. So, for now, Garth is limiting his performances to his Vegas gigs. Check out his show schedule here.
