Florida Georgia Line Help Backstreet Boys Notch Their First No. 1 Country Song
Florida Georgia Line and the Backstreet Boys' collaboration "God, Your Mama and Me" has reached No. 1 on both the Billboard and Mediabase Country Airplay charts, giving the country duo their 13th career No. 1 song -- and giving the boy band their very first country chart hit.
In a press release, Florida Georgia Line's Tyler Hubbard says it's "surreal" that "God, Your Mama and Me" is at the top of the country charts, and that it's "really cool" to have a hand in the Backstreet Boys' first country No. 1.
"If you told me growing up that I would share a No. 1 song with BSB, I would have told you to get outta here!" Brian Kelley, the other half of FGL, adds. "Dream big, work hard, surround yourself with an amazing team and anything is possible."
On Twitter, both Florida Georgia Line and the Backstreet Boys celebrated their No. 1 song. In the press release, BSB member Nick Carter says that both acts' admiration for each other is a big part of the song's success.
"We're fans of each other, and that's one of the reasons why the song works so well,” Carter explains. "I'm glad it's with these boys that we just reached No. 1 at country radio for the first time."
Florida Georgia Line are currently out on the road for their Smooth Tour, which began in June. The trek is scheduled to run through late October and features Chris Lane and Nelly as FGL's special guests; the Backstreet Boys will join the tour for three stadium dates -- in Boston, Mass.; Minneapolis, Minn.; and Chicago, Ill. -- in July and August.
