Country singer-songwriter Dylan Jakobsen wanted to get his fans involved in his forthcoming new album -- so, he asked them to sing with him. Readers can press play below to hear "What Are You Waiting For?," the song that features the recordings he received back.

"What Are You Waiting For?" is a feel-good motivational song that encourages listeners to live life to the fullest. "It’s a phrase that’s really pushed me on my journey so far," Jakobsen tells The Boot.

Jakobsen's voice soars on the back half of the track, and he adds harmonica throughout -- but it's the final chorus, which Jakobsen introduces with a rallying cry of, "Let's do this last one together now," that really makes the song special. Jakobsen posted a call on social media, and fans who responded were sent an acoustic clip of the chorus of "What Are You Waiting For?" and instructions on how to record themselves singing (or speaking or even rapping) along.

"The result was incredible ... I don’t think there was a more perfect way to end the album," Jakobsen says. "I love that they got to put a part of themselves on a song with such an important message ... To hear them singing back to you, not just at a show, but permanently ingrained on the album, it’s something really special."

A Seattle, Wash., native, Jakobsen is preparing to release his sophomore full-length project, on which "What Are You Waiting For?" appears. With his debut album, 2016's From Where I Began, the artist notched a Country Breakout Top 50 single, "Silverado," and acts such as Aaron Watson and LoCash have taken notice, inviting him to open shows.

I Am, Jakobsen's sophomore album, is due out on March 8. The project is available for pre-order on Jakobsen's official website; there, fans can also find tour dates and more details about the singer.
