Americana singer-songwriter David Quinn is premiering his dreamy new song "In My Dreams" exclusively for readers of The Boot. Press play below to listen.

In "In My Dreams," Quinn evokes the cosmically wild vibe of far-west Texas with vintage instrumentation and rich, mystical harmonies. The artist says that he found catharsis in writing the song, and its lyrics are a little bit sadder than its melody indicates.

"This is a song I wrote about unrequited love," Quinn tells The Boot. "It's about someone who can only be with the one he loves in his dreams, so that's what he does. I think everyone has dealt with some unrequited love, and it's not easy, so I figured the best way to handle it was to take a nap."

For Quinn, "In My Dreams" is one of those perfect songs that turned out just like he hoped it would. Recorded in Nashville under the supervision of producer Andrija Tokic, the track features some of Music City's most talented musicians, including Dave Roe (known for his work with Johnny Cash), Jimmy Lester and Micah Hulscher, whose piano playing lends a vintage country, saloon-style vibe to the song. Alexis Saski of Muddy Magnolias lends the eerie background vocals.

"The band really captured the groove I was going for," Quinn says. "The harmonies capture a sense of beauty and sadness for the chorus. It's almost as if [Saski] is singing as the woman in the song."

"In My Dreams" appears on Quinn's forthcoming debut album, aptly titled Wanderin' Fool. Written as part of his "quarter-life crisis," Quinn took to the highway for this album, penned as he road-tripped through Texas, California and Colorado. Previously, Quinn was a drummer in his brother's blues-rock band, among other acts, but never quite found the creative fulfillment he was looking for until he sold his house and went out on that fateful journey that lent inspiration to this album.

Wanderin' Fool is set for release on April 5. Visit to learn more.
