When Darius Rucker thinks back on his Christmases as a young boy, one stands out in particular -- because it was the start of a long and successful career in the music business.

"My mom gave me a guitar when I was nine," Darius tells The Boot. "It was neat to me because I had wanted that guitar so bad. And to wake up on Christmas morning and have it be there was pretty awesome. I didn't know how to play it, but I had it!"

Darius continues to practice his guitar-playing skills, but says it's his gift-giving skills are well-honed. "I'm a pretty good gift-giver. I find out what somebody wants, and I give it to them!"

And what does the man who has No. 1 singles, platinum albums, Grammys and a CMA New Artist of the Year award want more than anything for Christmas this year? To experience the joy of Christmas with his three children.

"I just want my kids to be happy like they are every Christmas," says the singer. "That is the joy of my Christmas time -- being woken up way too early on Christmas morning after going to bed way too late putting together some toys or something! Seeing their faces, though, is a joy."

Darius' latest single from the million-selling 'Learn to Live' album is, rather fittingly, 'History in the Making.'
