Darius Rucker is stepping up to the plate to fight childhood obesity. The country superstar joins legendary funnyman Bill Murray as co-captains of celebrity softball teams at an October 1 game in Darius' hometown of Charleston, S.C., to raise money for the cause.

The Slim Down the South Celebrity Softball Challenge will be held at Charleston's Riley Park, with confirmed players including Jim Sonefeld of Hootie and the Blowfish, several cast members from the Lifetime TV drama, 'Army Wives,' and competitors from the NBC reality competition show, 'The Biggest Loser.'

Darius himself stays in shape by practicing a regular exercise routine, even when he's on the road. The 'Comeback Song' singer is also an avid golfer, and uses his love for the links for another good cause -- the PGA Tour Charities, which helps kids learn life skills and build character through golf.
