Danny Gokey Baby News: Singer and Wife Welcome First Child

Congrats to Danny Gokey and wife Leyicet on the birth of their son! People magazine reports that Daniel Emanuel Gokey made his debut on Sunday (Jan. 20) at 9:52 PM ET. Weighing 8 lbs. 11 oz., their bundle of joy comes just a week before the couple celebrate their one-year anniversary on Jan. 29.

"Leyicet and I are overjoyed to welcome the new member of our family," Danny tells the publication. "I'm ecstatic to be a first time dad and to have a new little buddy to hang out with."

The "American Idol" alum is looking forward to spending a lot of time with his son. "Thankfully, because of what I do, it will also allow me the flexibility to spend a lot of quality time with him," he adds. "I have so many exciting projects ahead this year but a brand new baby is an amazing way to get the new year started. We feel really blessed!"

The pair tied the knot a year ago at a low-key affair in Florida with roughly 100 friends and family members present. "We are so thankful to have found each other and now be able to spend the rest of our lives together," the couple told People. "We pray our gratitude grows more every day because there is so much for us to do now."
