Country duo Dan + Shay offered a rousing performance of their newest single, "Tequila," on Sunday evening (April 15) at the 2018 ACM Awards. The song is the lead-off single from the duo's as-yet-unnamed third studio album, which is due out sometime in 2018.

Dan + Shay's performance was backed by a bunch of amateurs: literally. A large group of fans was crowded behind the duo, enjoying a close-up concert and adding backup vocals at the same time. The effect was that the performance felt intimate and epic at the same time. The duo seemed to love performing in the midst of a group of their biggest fans, and despite the sorrowful nature of the heartbreak song, the mood was much closer to a that of a party than a sad occasion during the performance.

Dan + Shay were among the nominees for Vocal Duo of the Year at the 2018 ACM Awards, along with Brothers Osborne, Florida Georgia Line, LoCash and Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. They received nods in that category in 2014, 2015 and 2017 as well.
