Joan Jett's appearance during Carrie Underwood's set was perhaps the biggest surprise of Friday night (June 7)'s CMA Fest 2019 Nissan Stadium performances, but there were plenty of other special guests and magical moments to go around. Eric Church's set in particular left fans raving on social media.

Just shy of two weeks after selling out Nissan Stadium on his Double Down Tour, Church commanded the CMA Fest crowd's attention with a solo set, armed only with his acoustic guitar. The country star used his 30 minutes onstage to create a career-spanning medley, closing with his hit "Springsteen."

Also on Friday, Lindsay Ell and Brantley Gilbert joined forces for their single "What Happens in a Small Town" twice: once at the Spotify House at Ole Red, and once at Nissan Stadium. Jon Pardi, meanwhile, arrived on the Nissan Stadium stage during CMA Fest 2019 co-host Thomas Rhett's set for their new duet "Beer Can't Fix."
