Charlie Daniels Exhibit Headed to Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum
In addition to his upcoming induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, as part of the Class of 2016, Charlie Daniels is being honored with a special exhibit at the Hall of Fame, opening in September.
Charlie Daniels: Million Mile Reflections, opening on Sept. 23 and scheduled to run through March of 2017, will focus on the country icon's life and career. Items displayed will include instruments, stage outfits, manuscripts and even special mementos from Daniels' childhood.
“I can’t even articulate how honored I am by this exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum," Daniels says in a press release. "I couldn’t think of a better name myself, unless it would be Five Million Mile Reflections."
Through the exhibit, the Hall of Fame aims to show the impact that Daniels has made on country music; he "forged a bracing new musical style out of bluegrass, blues, country, jazz and rock 'n' roll," explains Kyle Young, the museum's CEO, and "[h]is sound quickly became popular on country, pop and rock radio stations."
"His musical journey has led him to the Country Music Hall of Fame, where he will be inducted in October," Young continues. "It is only appropriate that we celebrate his remarkable career with our latest exhibition.”
Daniels is best known for his hit "The Devil Went Down to Georgia," which went to No. 1 in the late 1970s, but the star has sold millions of albums and scored more than a dozen Top 40 singles throughout his career. In 2008, at the age of 71, he was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry.
In addition to Daniels, the Country Music Hall of Fame's Class of 2016 features Fred Foster and Randy Travis.
“I’m flabbergasted; I really am," Daniels said when his induction was announced in March. "You can work toward other goals; there’s no way to work toward this goal. It either happens, or you don’t.”
