Charles Esten, one of the stars of the CMT show Nashville, mourned the loss of fellow actor and former castmate Powers Boothe on social media. Esten, who plays Deacon Claybourne on Nashville, shared a behind-the-scenes clip from Boothe's time on the show.

During his tenure on Nashville, Boothe protrayed Lamar Wyatt, a multimillionaire, Rayna Jaymes’ (Connie Britton) father and the former mayor of Nashville; he left the series in 2014. Esten's video shows Boothe, onstage at the Ryman Auditorium during the Nashville cast's Season 1 party, singing the song "Honky Tonk Man."

"This is how I will remember this kind and charismatic man I was thrilled and honored to work with," Esten writes. "I was a huge fan when we met. I became even more of one as, through his warmth and generosity, I got to know him a little better. What I'll remember most was his deep bond with, and his obvious love for, his wonderful wife and college sweetheart, Pamela. It's her that he's singing to in this clip. My heartfelt prayers and condolences go out to her and to their family."

"Rest In Peace, Powers. With your singular presence, you elevated every project you were ever a part of -- most definitely including ours," Esten continues. "We were blessed to have you in, and on, Nashville."

An Emmy Awards winner for his role as cult leader Jim Jones in the TV movie Guyana Tragedy: The Story of Jim Jones, Boothe was 68 when he died on Sunday (May 14), of natural causes, at his home in Los Angeles, Calif., the Tennessean reports. In addition to his roles in that film and on Nashville, Boothe also starred in Deadwood, Tombstone, Sin City and The AvengersConnie Britton, Sam Palladio and Hayden Panttiere also offered remembrances of the actor on social media.
