It's hard to believe Carrie Underwood and Nashville Predators player Mike Fisher have been married over a year, but the two already celebrated their one-year anniversary -- although their actual celebration was a little more low-key than the two had originally hoped.

"My husband actually had shoulder surgery earlier this summer so we really couldn't go too far away because he needed to be [home] for physical therapy every single day," she explains to RumorFix. But Mike's bride was undeterred.

"I was like, please just give me a weekend," she recalls. "Our anniversary actually fell on a weekend so we were able to go to a really nice spot nearby Nashville and sort of just veg out -- and we ate a lot and just had a nice, nice weekend."

The former 'American Idol' champ is also working on her follow-up to her 2009 multi-platinum-selling CD, 'Play On,' which includes spending some time collaborating with songwriters in Los Angeles. "Right now I'm working on my next album," she notes, " and I've been writing a little bit."

The 'Undo It' singer is also playing a few shows while she puts the final touches on her upcoming CD, including an appearance at the iHeartRadio Music Festival this weekend in Las Vegas. Carrie, who is nominated for a CMA Award for Female Vocalist of the Year, will take the stage in Nashville on November 9, when she co-hosts the 45th annual Country Music Awards with her 'Remind Me' duet partner Brad Paisley.

The 45th Annual CMA Awards will air live from Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on November 9, 2011 at 8:00 PM ET on ABC.
