Carrie Underwood Sick, Donates Proceeds From Show to Charity

Carrie Underwood gave a generous donation to the city of Des Moines, Iowa, following her performance on Friday night (Dec. 14). The songstress powered through her 90-minute set while battling laryngitis, but then decided her performance wasn't worthy of her paycheck.

"I've given everything a million percent, but I'm still only getting about halfway to where I want to be and I'm not used to that," Carrie said during the show, clearly struggling with her voice (quote via the Country Vibe). "I feel real guilty about making any money on this show tonight. So whatever I'm making is just going to go right back into this community, because I feel like that's the right thing to do."

The Oklahoma native eliminated a few songs from her set list, but otherwise belted out most of her hits. While she didn't mention which charities would benefit from her donation, ticket sales for the evening were estimated at $483,000.

Unfortunately, Carrie was unable to perform on Saturday night (Dec. 15) at her sold-out show in Kansas City, Mo. That show has been rescheduled for May 1.
