Carrie Underwood brought out the tears with a memorable performance of her current single, 'See You Again' at the 2013 CMT Music Awards on Wednesday night (June 5).

The Oklahoma native sang the tune against a backdrop of images of the devastation of the recent Oklahoma tornado. She also donated $1 million to the relief efforts of her home state, and has vowed to do all she can to help the state recover.

The singer, who originally wrote the song for the film, 'The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader,' was joined by members of the Christ Church Choir for the powerful tune, which resulted in a lengthy standing ovation.

"The people in Oklahoma are really great," Carrie shared (quote via Taste of Country). "Tornado season is something that we're all used to but you can never fully prepare for it ... It takes what it wants and it knocks down what it wants and there's nothing you can do about it except just try to be prepared. They're just wonderful people and they're going to rebuild and they're going to bounce back stronger than ever."
