Carrie Underwood Cancels Two UK Concerts Due to Illness
An unspecified illness has forced Carrie Underwood to cancel two upcoming concerts in the UK, as well as some promotional events overseas. The country superstar will no longer perform at the The Long Road Festival and Radio 2 Live in Hyde Park, scheduled for Sept. 7-9 and Sept. 9, respectively.
UMG Nashville, Underwood's record label, announced the news of her event cancellations on Facebook, per a tweet from the The Long Road Festival. Aaron Watson will now headline the festival on Saturday night (Sept. 8), in Underwood's place, while Kylie Minogue, Rita Ora, the Shires and more are still on the Radio 2 Live in Hyde Park schedule. According to Underwood's tour calendar, her next scheduled appearance is on Sept. 13 on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon; Underwood herself has not yet commented on her cancellations.
On Sept. 14, Underwood will release a new album, Cry Pretty. The record, co-produced by Underwood and David Garcia, is her first since 2015's Storyteller. Underwood spent much of 2016 on tour, and then took most of 2017 off. After co-hosting the 2017 CMA Awards in November, however, she suffered a serious fall outside her Nashville-area home that required surgery on her wrist and dozens of stitches in her face, which she says provided her with some "forced relaxation."
Because she's expecting her second child, Underwood will not tour in support of Cry Pretty until 2019. Her Cry Pretty Tour 360 is scheduled to begin on May 1, in Greensboro, N.C. Maddie & Tae and Runaway June will be on the road with her during the trek.
