With Christmas only a couple weeks away, many people savor their own holiday traditions, like serving a favorite meal or listening to the same CD of festive tunes each year. But for Carrie Underwood and her husband, Nashville Predators player Mike Fisher, their Christmas season is too busy to hone in on any favorite activities.

"We're not a big tradition kind of family, and Mike and I can't seem to be, either, because of his hockey madness around the holidays," she admits to FOX News. "It's not like we can be in a certain place at a certain time on Christmas."

The 'American Idol' alum may not have any yuletide rituals, but the end of the year is an entirely different story. "Mike and I [had our] first date on New Year's Eve," Carrie reveals. "That was our first date, first kiss. 'Five, four, three, two, one, happy New Year's! Smooch, smooch.' It's kind of our unofficial anniversary."

The 28-year-old has plenty to look forward to in the new year. She will release the follow-up album to her multi-platinum-selling 2009 CD, 'Play On.' "[There's] no official [release] date," Carrie says of the new set of tunes. "I know that's all very strategic and people have got to figure out when the exact right date is. I have nothing to do with that. I'm just like, 'I want to sing new stuff.' It's going to be really good. I'm very excited. I'm having trouble trimming it down. There's too many good songs."

Carrie, who took home three American Country Awards earlier this week, including one for Female Artist of the Year, will head to Los Angeles in February for the Grammy Awards. The songbird is nominated for the coveted trophy for Best Country Solo Performance for her self-penned tune, 'Mama's Song.' See a list nominees here.
