Nashville singer-songwriter Caroline Spence is premiering her new song "Wait on the Wine" exclusively for readers of The Boot. Press play below to listen.

Spence's equally ethereal and powerful vocals are paired with a simple acoustic melody in "Wait on the Wine." The song is a delicate, slow-burning ballad about finding enough liquid courage at the bottom of a bottle to make a bold declaration of love.

"I'll wait on the wine to kick in / For that time of night to settle in," Spence sings on the chorus. "When I just can't wait to tell you / How long I've been wanting you to be mine / But I'll wait on the wine."

Based in Nashville, Spence is gearing up to release her third full-length album, Mint Condition, on which "Wait on the Wine" appears. It's the much-anticipated follow-up to 2017's Spades and Roses, and explores a path that doesn't always have a clear destination.

“People tell you to write about what you know, but a lot of the time, I write about what I don’t know,” Spence says. “For m,  songs are a way to ask questions, and sometimes you end up figuring out the answers.”

Mint Condition is set for release on May 3 via Rounder Records. Visit CarolineSpenceMusic.com for more.
