Michael Ray Acts Fast After Fiancee Carly Pearce’s Live ACM Awards Error [WATCH]
Fans gushing over country music's most adorable young couple during Sunday night's (April 7) 2019 ACM Awards broadcast might've overlooked a brief live-on-television flub involving future spouses Carly Pearce and Michael Ray. The two couldn't resist poking some fun at the incident after it happened, either.
After announcing Dan + Shay as the 2019 Duo of the Year winner, the recently engaged presenters embraced the "Tequila" performers. In a moment Pearce jokingly wrote off as "excitement overload for my boys," she accidentally dropped Dan + Shay's freshly won trophy. Ray, in a hug of his own with Dan Smyers, quickly spotted Pearce's error and scooped up their friends' resilient new piece of hardware.
Ray had a laugh about the incident on social media as well, pairing the hashtag #dropitlikeitshot with a lighthearted line ready-made for his wedding vows: "I always gotcha back babe."
Pearce and Ray announced that they were a couple in July of 2018, after finding romance "one random night" at Nashville honky-tonk the Nashville Palace. Ever since, the two have delighted fans with swoon-worthy social media posts, adorable onstage duets and even the possibility of a full-fledged collaboration on Pearce's upcoming sophomore album in 2019. They became engaged in December.
