In the mere four months since Blake Shelton released "God's Country" to country radio, the single has shot up the charts at a breakneck pace, quickly topping both the Mediabase / Country Aircheck and Billboard Country Airplay charts. "God's Country" also became the fastest country single in the past year to hit 1 million track equivalents.

The No. 1 hit marks another milestone for Shelton, too. The song is his 26th career No. 1 hit, which officially ties him with superstars George Strait and Alan Jackson in third place on the list of artists with the most No. 1 singles on the Billboard Country Airplay chart.

Shelton (along with Strait and Jackson) are beat out only by Tim McGraw (in second place, with 29 No. 1 hits) and Kenny Chesney (who tops the list, with 30 No. 1s to his name). The Billboard Country Airplay chart was launched in 1990, and tracks chart-topping hits ever since that time.

"This is such a powerful song, and I'm so proud of be a part of it," Shelton says of "God's Country" in a press release. "When I first heard the song, I thought it sounded like a remedy. Like a cure. It just sounds like a missing link in country music for the last 10 or 12 years. It feels like a combination of "Ol' Red" and "Country Boy Can Survive" to me, which definitely have a place in country music. Those songs are just rare."

"God's Country" was written by Hardy and Devin Dawson, two country up-and-comers who have already proven their potential as hitmakers, along with ace songwriter Jordan Schmidt. The song is Dawson's first No. 1 as a songwriter.
