On Monday night (Dec. 12), Billy Gilman debuted a brand-new original song, "Because of Me," and its accompanying music video as part of The Voice Season 11 finale.

"Because of Me" is a poppy love song that finds Gilman musing, "I just wanna be the universe / Or at least as far as you're concerned ... I just wanna be your wanderlust / All the molecules that make you up / 'Cause to me there's nothing else but us ..."

"I don't want you to smile or shed a tear / Ever hear you say 'love' unless it's in my ear," Gilman sings in the song's chorus. "I don't want you to dance or have your heart miss a beat / I don't want you to feel unless it's because of me."

Prior to Gilman performing "Because of Me" on The Voice, his coach, Adam Levine, revealed that the song was going to be for his band, Maroon 5, before it went to Gilman. Readers can press play on the video above to see the official "Because of Me" music video, and watch Gilman's performance of the song from The Voice finale below.

Gilman skyrocketed to stardom following the release of “One Voice,” his debut single, in 2000; he was 11 years old at the time, making him the youngest country artist to ever earn a Top 40 hit. Gilman’s album of the same name earned double-platinum status, but his following singles and albums did not achieve the same level of success. In November of 2014, Gilman revealed that he is gay — and called out the country music industry to support LGBTQ artists.

Gilman first landed on Team Adam during The Voice‘s blind auditions. Fans who would like to see Gilman win Season 11 of the TV singing competition can vote for him on the show’s official website and download "Because of Me” on iTunes before a champion is crowned on Tuesday night (Dec. 13).
