Angie Johnson Joins Scotty McCreery’s Fall Tour

Angie Johnson is hitting the road. The former contestant of 'The Voice' will join Season 10 'American Idol' winner Scotty McCreery for the fall leg of his successful Weekend Roadtrip tour.

"I just love Scotty's voice," Johnson says. "He's a real talent, and I'm super excited to join him on his Weekend Roadtrip Tour. I think we're going to have a blast on the road together!"

The US Air Force veteran, who left a full-time military career to focus on her music, says her time in active duty was the perfect preparation for her new musical chapter. “[It] was like basic training for my life,” she tells The Boot. “There have been so many people who think they are in stressful situations and I’m like ‘Really? Should I be stressed out right now because this is nothing like Afghanistan. I’m not wearing Kevlar and I’m not wearing body armor, so I’m good’. That is the perspective I carry with me,”

Johnson, who released an EP, 'Sing For You' earlier this year, says that, while she enjoyed her time in active duty, she is confident she made the right choice in pursuing music full-time.

"The truth about me is that I love music," she adds. "There's something beautiful about putting pen to paper and creating a story that awakens the spirit. And something magical about putting that story to music and moving the soul to live out loud."

Johnson, whose single 'Swagger' is already climbing the charts, sang the national anthem at the Rams' final pre-season game on Aug. 29. She will kick off her tour with McCreery Sunday night (Sept. 1), in Manteo, N.C. See a list of all of their upcoming shows below.
