The highly anticipated Grand Ole Opry movie, American Saturday Night Live from the Grand Ole Opry, has a release date.

The film, which stars Brad Paisley, Blake Shelton and the Band Perry, among others, is scheduled for a limited special engagement at select theaters in the U.S. beginning on Dec. 4. A wider distribution will occur in January.

“We are excited about the opportunity to take the Opry and country music into movie theaters across the country,” says Steve Buchanan, Opry Entertainment president. “This partnership allows us to present the Opry to fans through a previously unutilized medium and is another way for the Opry to expand its reputation as a vehicle of discovery for America’s music.”

Some of the performances featured during the made-for-cinema concert film include Shelton's "Boys 'Round Here" and "Gonna;" Paisley's "American Saturday Night" and "Country Nation;" Darius Rucker's "Wagon Wheel" and "So I Sang;" Brett Eldredge's "Don't Ya;" and TBP's "If I Die Young."

“It’s like a mega behind-the-scenes version of the Opry,” the Band Perry’s Reid Perry says.

For Paisley, the movie is much more than just a chance for viewers to enjoy the Grand Ole Opry experience.

“The main goal of my career was to be an Opry member," he explains. "Once you get that, it becomes so much more than that. It becomes family and friendships and part of your life, really. These people out here, from [Opry general manager] Pete [Fisher] to artists like Bill Anderson and Jeannie Seely and the people I associate with these backstage experiences, there’s so many great memories now.”
