Garth Brooks' youngest daughter isn’t relying on her famous surname to make it as a country singer. Instead, the 22-year-old graduate of Belmont University bills herself as Allie Colleen, and despite a stint as one of her dad’s backup singers, she’s strategically done her own thing and paid her dues without riding the coattails of Brooks or her stepmother, Trisha Yearwood.

Although she's making her own way, Colleen embraces the country music traditions and storytelling chops shared by her family. She’s not singing over hip-hop beats to prove she doesn’t have to be like Dad; on the contrary, her output so far includes same types of heartfelt story songs overshadowed at times by Brooks’ big-budget stadium shows.
