Following Glen Campbell's death on Tuesday (Aug. 8)Alan Jackson reached out on Instagram to remember the country legend. In his post, Jackson explains the profound impact that Campbell's kindness had on his own life and career.

"I will always feel like I owe Glen a lot of gratitude -- he was my first contact in Nashville when my wife, Denise, was a flight attendant. She met him at the airport and he gave her his business card for his publishing company," Jackson writes. "This connection lead me down the path that brought me to where I am today."

That chance meeting between Campbell and Jackson's wife eventually led to Jackson's first record deal. When Jackson was announced as a 2017 inductee into the Country Music Hall of Fame earlier this year, it was seeing Campbell's name on the list of former inductees that really hit home for him.

“I saw Glen [Campbell]’s name, too. Just to think about, most of those are heroes of mine,” Jackson noted at the time. “You look at all that, and you don’t feel like you’re worthy to be in here with them. It’s crazy to think that your name and your face will be on the wall.”

On Twitter, too, Jackson expressed his gratitude for Campbell and that unexpected connection: "This lead me down the path that brought me to where I am today," Jackson writes.
