2018 ACM Awards Executive Producers Consulted Jason Aldean for Route 91 Tribute
Sunday night's (April 15) 2018 ACM Awards ceremony will include a tribute to the victims of the Route 91 Harvest Festival shooting on Oct. 1, 2017. The executive producers of the show, in a YouTube video about putting the 2018 ACM Awards together, reveal that they consulted Jason Aldean -- who was onstage when the shooting began -- when planning the special moment.
"We took his lead, of what he felt, and the people around him," says 2018 ACM Awards Executive Producer Barry Adelman," and he's come up with an idea, and we worked closely with them, and we were happy with the way it's coming together."
Adds RA Clark, Adelman's co-executive producer, "It's gonna be a very powerful moment."

Showrunners have been tight-lipped about the details of the ACM's Route 91 tribute, so little else is known about what's being planned. Billboard reports that the show will begin with the tribute segment.
"This is the elephant in the room," Clark tells the news outlet. "We are going to address it right at the top of the show ... I feel like we found the appropriate voices to put to it. Then we have to get into our show -- not leave it behind, but focus on what's ahead of us."
The 2018 ACM Awards are set to air live on CBS beginning at 8PM ET; Reba McEntire will be hosting the show. During rehearsals for the ceremony, Aldean and Thomas Rhett visited with survivors of the Route 91 shooting.
