They've both been in country music for decades, but George Strait and Willie Nelson had never performed together until Saturday night (Jan. 12). During a tribute concert in Nelson's honor at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena, the two music legends teamed up for their first-ever performance -- and they brought the perfect song for the occasion.

Readers can press play above to watch Strait and Nelson share the stage for a performance of a brand-new song called, according to Rolling Stone, "Sing One With Willie." The magazine reports that the song was written by Strait, Nelson, Strait's son Bubba Strait and Buddy Cannon and will be on Strait's upcoming new album, Honky-Tonk Time Machine; it finds the two, appropriately, reflecting on how much they'd love to collaborate with each other.

"Well, I've had a wonderful career / I think it's quite clear / So I'm writing this down in a song ... And I think you'll agree / This is just wrong / I ain't never got to sing one with Willie," Strait begins. The latter part of the song finds Nelson on lead vocals, noting, "I think that it’s great to finally sing one with Strait / And our fans will all love it, I know.”

Saturday's tribute concert, dubbed Willie: Life and Songs of an American Outlaw, also featured performances from Chris StapletonEmmylou HarrisEric ChurchJamey JohnsonLukas NelsonMargo PriceAlison KraussVince Gill and many, many more. The event was filmed for a TV broadcast, the details of which have yet to be announced.
