Thomas Rhett's third studio album, Life Changes, is the culmination of hard work and significant personal reflection, and it shows. Singles such as "Life Changes" and "Marry Me" not only offer an intimate glimpse into the country star's life but also have landed him at No. 1 on the country charts. Now, the project is up for Album of the Year at the 2018 CMA Awards, and Rhett says he doesn't take the honor of being nominated lightly.

"I think, besides Entertainer of the Year, I feel like [the album category] is the pinnacle," Rhett explains to The Boot and other outlets. "You know, because it's not just being nominated for a song or a performance or a video. It's being nominated for an entire project."

The singer goes on to say that the nomination is especially meaningful to him because of all of the behind-the-scenes work that goes into crafting a full-length project. "So much work that no one ever knows about goes into making an album," he continues. "Whether it's picking the songs, recording them, doing 12 photo shoots to find the right smile for an album cover ...

"For the CMA to recognize that, amongst all those other records that I have listened to over and over again, it's really special," Rhett adds.

The 2018 CMA Awards are scheduled to air on ABC on Nov. 14, at 8PM ET. The ceremony will take place live at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, and Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood will co-host for the 11th consecutive year.
