Taylor Swift is notorious for reminiscing about her former flames through song, and now the 20-year old says she has another way she fondly -- or not so fondly -- recalls her past loves: fragrance!

"Different smells bring different relationships to mind for me," she tells Allure magazine (quote via Popeater). The country superstar admits she used to keep a tray of perfume and cologne at her parents' house, so she could wear the scent of the guy she wanted to remember. "I'd put on Abercrombie 8 to remember when I was in ninth grade and had my first boyfriend, because he gave me that," she recalls.

Not that all the memories are fond ones. "Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue is still a difficult one for me to smell," she adds.

The songbird is so moved by scents, she decided to partner with Elizabeth Arden to create her own perfume line. "I have always loved how fragrance can shape a memory, the way certain scents remind you of events and people that are imprinted in your thoughts," she says. "Lately I've been having fun experimenting with combining some of my favorite scents, so I'm really excited about working with Elizabeth Arden to develop my own unique fragrance."

Currently rumored to be dating movie heartthrob Jake Gyllenhaal, Taylor didn't reveal if she kept any fragrances from her rumored famous exes, including Joe Jonas, John Mayer and Taylor Lautner. But she does admit that the older she gets, the less she realizes she knows about love overall. "I'm finally getting the idea it's the one thing I don't need to have a strategy for. I can only write the material I know, which is what happens to me," she acknowledges.

Her revelation is a far cry from the former high school student, who was only too happy to dole out advice to her peers. "Like, the best way to get a guy to like you would be to actively ignore him," she used to suggest. "I was filled with advice! I'd tell my friends things like, 'Don't accept that apology! That isn't sincere!' Or, 'He hung out with his ex-girlfriend? Get rid of him.' But love is never that simple.

"Now I'm finally getting the idea it's the one thing I don't need to have a strategy for," she admits. "I can only write the material I know, which is what happens to me."

Taylor just celebrated her latest album, 'Speak Now,' reaching platinum sales status in one week. She will promote the new CD of tunes all over the globe next year, when she kicks off her world tour in Amsterdam in March. Find tour dates here.
