Following his major-label record deal with Atlantic Records, Sturgill Simpson has signed a publishing deal with Downtown Music Publishing.

Simpson joins a roster that encompasses country and Americana music; Downtown Music Publishing's other clients include Old Crow Medicine Show, Rosanne Cash and Brandy Clark.

"We are incredibly proud to represent Sturgill and his body of work," says the company's senior vice president of creative services, Jedd Katrancha. "To be a part of the cross-genre level of excitement surrounding Sturgill is a thrill, and we're looking forward to working with him as he continues to grow and release new music."

Simpson has been nominated for a number of awards since the release of his album Metamodern Sounds in Country Music last year: He took home the award for Emerging Artist of the Year at the 2014 Americana Music Awards and has received nominations for Artist of the Year, Album of the Year and Song of the Year at the 2015 awards, which are set for Sept. 16 in Nashville.

The singer-songwriter signed his deal with Atlantic Records after releasing his first two records independently through Thirty Tigers. He has already started work on his next album with producer Dave Cobb, who also worked with him on Metamodern Sounds.

Simpson is currently playing select summer festivals, with new tour dates beginning in September. For a list of upcoming shows, visit SturgillSimpson.com.
