Reba Remembers Her First CMA Win
Back in 1984, Reba McEntire was nominated for the second year in a row for the CMA's Female Vocalist of the Year. It was an honor she'll never forget.
"I was in the dressing room with Emmylou Harris, Brenda Lee, and Tammy Wynette," Reba recalled on the 'Rachel Ray' show last week. "[The CMA producers] said, 'OK girls, we've got to go get in your seats.' I was walking out, and Emmylou walked up to me and said, 'Congratulations...I'm pulling for you!' I said, 'Oh, I'm pulling for you, too!' She said, 'No, this is your year.' To get that from Emmylou Harris was wonderful!"
It was Reba's year indeed. She won Female Vocalist honors, taking home her very first CMA trophy.
This year, Reba is once again nominated for Female Vocalist at the 43rd Annual CMA Awards. She's up against Carrie Underwood, Martina McBride, Miranda Lambert and Taylor Swift. The CMAs air this Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 8:00 PM ET on ABC.
