In Cosmopolitan's new issue, Miranda Lambert opens up about her recent divorce from Blake Shelton and how she's been dealing with her newly single status, and she tells fans of both her and her ex-husband that sharing their opinions and picking sides isn't helping anyone.

“We are real people with real lives and real s--t. We’re both very honest. This is what it is now, and we’re moving forward," Lambert says. "We don’t need all the opinions. We just need y’all to be supportive, and nobody pick a side — because there ain’t a side."

Lambert has, until now, kept quiet about her and Shelton's split, but elsewhere in the interview, she admits that her coping methods have included "nights on my porch crying, drinking whiskey and going, ‘Man, this sucks right now.'"

Still, she has gained some perspective on love and romance.

“I had a great relationship with an amazing man,” the 32-year-old says, “so I know what good is. I have a great launching pad for the future. I will never take that for granted.”

The reigning CMA Awards Female Vocalist of the Year wrapped her 2015 Roadside Bars & Pink Guitars Tour earlier this fall, and she’s now taking some time off from the road until the spring. Still, that isn’t stopping Lambert from getting onstage: She recently appeared at Ashley Monroe‘s Nashville show … and there’s been talk of the Pistol Annies reuniting.
