Mindy McCready Said to Be ‘Fine’ After Suicide Attempt
Mindy McCready is still in a Nashville hospital after her apparent suicide attempt on Wednesday. But according to her younger brother, she is “recovering just fine.”
“Mindy’s doing great. She’s fine,” Josh McCready tells PEOPLE magazine. “She was hospitalized, but she’s fine. She’s good now.”
Josh would not elaborate on what led his sister to harm herself. Paramedics found the troubled singer Wednesday with injuries to her wrists. This is the second time this year McCready has been hospitalized for suicidal behavior. She went to rehab this summer after trying to wash down sleeping pills with vodka.
Just last month, McCready was singing a more optimistic tune, promising her fans that she was planning a big comeback — both personally and professionally. “Redemption is out there for everybody to get,” she told the syndicated TV show ‘Inside Edition.’ “Just watch me. I’m gonna show you how to do it.”
McCready is best known for her hits ’10,000 Angels’ and ‘Guys Do It All the Time,’ but she hasn’t had a song on the country charts since 2002. She did, however, make national headlines this year after admitting to a decade-long affair with married baseball star Roger Clemens.
