LoCash received their first-ever major award nomination in the New Vocal Duo or Group category at the 2017 ACM Awards earlier this year. The duo, made up of Chris Lucas and Preston Brust, was also nominated for Duo Video of the Year, for their No. 1 hit "I Know Somebody," at the 2017 CMT Music Awards. For LoCash, who are keeping their fingers crossed for the upcoming CMA Awards as well, the industry recognition is more proof that their hard work is paying off.

"It’s an honor, anything that we can get like that," Lucas tells The Boot. "Of course, we’d love to win, but just to be nominated is a win to us. Every step we make in our career, it goes up, whether it’s an inch or two or three steps. We take it in, we celebrate."

While fans have been welcoming LoCash with open arms for years, even as independent artists, the acknowledgement from the industry is the validation the guys have been working toward for the last several years.

"It’s really cool to feel the industry embrace us a little bit. So I think that’s the best feeling," explains Brust. "I think it just kind of sets us at ease a little bit ... We want to win, but if we don’t, it’s okay. We won just by being nominated, so it kind of takes the edge off a little bit and makes us feel accepted."

But even with awards nominations and hit singles at radio, LoCash insist they will never forget where they came from and will always remain grateful for every success they have, big and small.

“I think our journey was so long and so tough at times that it’s easy to just be who we are and keep doing what we’ve been doing all along,” Brust says. “We’re still doing 200-some shows a year. We’re still writing with the same guys we were writing with.”
