Jessica Simpson Does Country to the Nines

Jessica Simpson's first country album is due September 9.

"It's 9/9 -- she's into nines this year," dad Joe Simpson tells Us magazine. "We hope it's a wonderful joy. It feels really good. She is extremely happy."

Simpson should indeed be happy with her success in country so far. Her album's first single, 'Come On Over,' set a record as the highest charting country debut from a solo artist in the history of Billboard's country singles chart. 'Papa' Joe says that proves his notion that his daughter was meant to sing country music.

"It's the heartland of America," he says of the genre. "We forget on the East and West coasts that there is a whole country in between . . . That's our home, and that's Jessica's home."

Jessica celebrated her 28th birthday on Thursday. She'll continue the festivities this weekend in Lake Tahoe, joining boyfriend Tony Romo, who is playing in a golf tournament there.
