Pop artist / fashion designer Jessica Simpson and country legend Willie Nelson may have very different musical careers, but a collaboration between the two is exactly what transpired onstage at the Orange County Fair last Thursday evening (Aug. 9). During a performance, Nelson invited Simpson to join him for a performance of a brand-new song "I Will Be Your Fool."

Readers can press play above to watch Simpson and Nelson's onstage duet. While introducing Simpson, Nelson explains that the pair just recently recorded the song together; however, it's unclear what it's for, or when it might be officially released.

While Simpson and Nelson may seem like an unlikely onstage duo, the pair has a history of performing together, and they co-starred in the 2005 film adaption of the TV show Dukes of Hazzard. In the film, Simpson played Daisy Duke, with Nelson alongside her as Uncle Jesse Duke. Since working together, they have given performances together a handful of times.

However, prior to her appearance during Nelson's set at the Orange County Fair, Simpson had stayed offstage for quite a while; in fact, her husband and children had never gotten the chance to see her perform before.

"It's not every night that a legend invites you to join him on his stage. And my husband and kids got to see me perform for the first time! I love you @willienelsonofficial," the singer gushed on Instagram, also posting an image from during her duet with the country icon.

Simpson has dabbled in country music before: In 2008, she released a country cross-over album, Do You Know, after befriending Nelson while filming Dukes of Hazzard. While that album debut at No. 1 on the Billboard country chart, and produced the Top 20 single "Come on Over," album sales quickly fizzled. However, Simpson has subsequently found success in the fashion and acting industries.
