Jason Aldean is getting set for the release of his new album, and he's giving readers of The Boot an exclusive first listen to one of the bonus tracks from the deluxe edition.

'Fast Lanes' is one of three additional tracks that appear exclusively on the Target deluxe edition of 'Old Boots, New Dirt,' which is set for release in October. Working with longtime producer Michael Knox, Aldean set out to break new musical ground.

"Just because I’m a country artist doesn’t mean I don’t hear things in other forms of music that I think are really cool and could work for what we’re doing here," he says. "From the very beginning, we’ve always tried to cut great songs. Some of those songs are about promoting having a good time -- driving trucks, fishing, hunting, because that’s just what we do -- but I would like to think that some stuff on this album is a little deeper, too.

"My hope is that my fans will see that I’m still staying true to my roots while bringing a new edge to the music," he adds. "That's why this album title made sense to me -- it just really fits where I am right now."

The album contains 15 new studio recordings, and the Target deluxe edition offers three more, including 'Fast Lanes.'

"'Too Much You for Me' is about one of the toughest parts of going through a breakup in a small town: seeing little reminders of your ex everywhere you turn, lurking around every corner, constantly reopening those wounds," Aldean shares. "Anyone who’s been there knows how hard that is and how all you want to do is get as far away as you possibly can."

He adds, "'Fast Lanes' kind of takes things in an opposite direction, talking about a guy who just can’t seem to settle down and runs every time he starts to feel something for a girl.

"'Ain’t No Easy Way' is about that moment when, after trying desperately to save a relationship, it finally just hits you: You have to end it. The writing is clearly on the wall -- you know what you have to do -- but there’s truly never an easy way to do it," Aldean says. "There’s a line in that song that says, 'Life is hard, but love is harder,' which pretty much sums it up."

'Old Boots, New Dirt' is scheduled for release on Oct. 7. The Target deluxe edition is currently available for pre-order here.
