Gene Watson isn't slowing down anytime soon. The 71-year-old has announced he is embarking on a national fall tour, which kicks off this Saturday (Aug. 29), in Sandstone, Minn.

“I’ve been at the top and I’ve been just as low as you can go," Watson says in a statement. “All that in between in my many years in this business has made me appreciate the fans all the more. Those are the folks who come out to hear the music and make it possible for singers like me to continue making the kind of country music we love – real country!”

The country music icon's career has already spanned five decades, since the release of his hit single, "Love in the Hot Afternoon." Since then, Watson has scored six chart-topping songs, 23 Top 10 singles, and released more than 30 albums, including his 2014 My Heroes Have Always Been Country.
