Easton Corbin’s ‘I Can’t Love You Back’ Video Is Open Ended

Easton Corbin topped the chart twice last year, with the upbeat ode to the simple life, 'A Little More Country Than That,' and the carefree 'Roll With It.' Now he's climbing the chart with his first ballad, 'I Can't Love You Back,' a tune for which he also recently filmed a video.

"I was pretty blown away the first time I heard the song," Easton tells The Boot. "I love melodies, and that melody really struck a chord with me. I really love that the song is open ended -- there's no definitive answer. The really cool thing about that is that it leaves the listener to interpret it as they would. Different people take things in their own way."

While some may argue the video (watch it below) brings the story to a close, Easton doesn't agree. "I think it's still open ended," he says. "She could have been leaving the guy or she could have been just going to work and got run over by a truck. Anything can happen."

Easton plays the part of 'the guy' and really proves his acting chops in the clip, whether accidental or not. "I wasn't really trying to [act]," he says with a laugh. "I'm just lucky it came out like that."

Being the only ballad on the record, what drew Easton to the song that's a few paces off from his first two singles? "I've always loved sad songs," Easton explains. "For me, that's what country music is all about. I didn't make it a point to make this a different direction. This song just happened to be. It's the only ballad on the record, and I love the song."
