Dierks Bentley Reveals Track Listing for ‘Riser’

Dierks Bentley has revealed the track listing for his upcoming album, 'Riser.'

Bentley worked with some of Nashville's top talent on the new tracks, including Kacey Musgraves, Chris Stapleton, Charlie Worsham and Jaren Johnston from the Cadillac Three.

“It’s important to really know the writers and musicians you work with, to hang out with them and live in the same world," he says in a press release. “I have such a romance with Nashville and this community. I drove across the country when I was 19 years old with a dream of just being invited to the party. It’s still wild to me that I get to work with and call so many incredibly talented people my friends.”

The album is his first since the death of his father two years ago, followed by the birth of his own son, and the themes encompass loss and renewal, taking the singer-songwriter to an even more honest place. That was reflected in the working process, which saw Bentley record his vocals in the intimate setting of producer Russ Copperman's home studio.

The result is a sound that Bentley feels is the closest he's come yet to capturing the attitude of his songs.

“It’s the sound in my head that I hear when I’m playing a live show,” he states. “You have one ear monitor in, one ear out, and the crowd’s there and your voice feels really great. There’s a certain amount of gravel to it because you’re tired, but you’re all jacked up on whatever you're drinking and adrenaline, and the crowds and the fans are there and there’s this feeling, fists in the air -- it’s that thing that’s hard to transfer into a studio environment. There’s a rawness.”

'Riser' is set for release on Feb. 25, 2014. Bentley will embark on the Riser Tour in May.

He will likely debut some of the new material when he headlines at the Tropical Nights Boots in the Sand getaway, which runs from Feb. 23-27 at the Riviera Maya in Mexico. Billy Currington, Brantley Gilbert and Jana Kramer will also headline separate nights of the luxury country music getaway.
