Truth: No one can beat Ellen Degeneres' famous (and star-packed) selfie at the 2014 Oscars. But country artists are pretty darn good at selfies, and they have fun taking them.

The first known use of the word "selfie" happened in 2002, and since then, they've taken over social media. From flexing photos to the infamous "duck lips" pics, selfies are quick, casual and fun ways to share a self-portrait with others ... or in the case of super-famous country stars, with the whole world.

Garth Brooks may have taken over a decade off from making music, but now that he's back, he's hopped onto the social media train and has plenty of selfies -- and a whole lot of videos -- to prove it. And who can ever get enough of Brett Eldredge's gorgeous eyes? Not us, and that's why we love his selfies, which always feature his model-esque good looks and scruffy face.

It's rare to see Miranda Lambert take a selfie without a sweet pooch -- or several -- in the background, and that's okay with fans; it's neat to see her share her passion for animals on social media. Kacey Musgraves also isn't afraid of taking selfies; she's an Instagram queen, sharing images of all that glitters in her world.

Whether they're prepping for the red carpet, flying in an airplane, about to take a nap or just making a silly face, country stars really show fans how selfies are done. Click through the gallery below to see plenty of country singers' best selfies:
