Cassadee Pope has just released her new EP, Summer, and to mark the occasion, she dropped the music video for the project's lead single and title track.

"Summer" finds Pope reminiscing about summertime romance -- intense, but fleeting. As she sings in the song's chorus, “He drove away the first of September / But I remember / Yeah, I remember / He talked like / And he walked like / And he looked like / And he burned like / Summer.”

The "Summer" music video finds Pope and her summer hunk enjoying each other's company on a Florida beach. Shots of the pair hanging out on the sand and goofing off on the boardwalk are interspersed with scenes of Pope singing the tune among sand dunes -- and with a few hot-and-heavy makeout sessions. Pope wrote "Summer" with Kelly Archer and Emily Shackleton, the three sitting in a room and reminiscing about summer romances.

"[We remembered] how powerful and passionate it can feel at the time. Then, when you look back on it, it’s just a memory, and it’s still so vivid in your mind," Pope shares. "We wanted to write a song that was very colorful; the lyrics really tell a story."

Pope's Summer EP contains four tracks, beginning with "Summer." The artist says that the project is more "her" than anything fans have previously heard from her.

“I feel like when I first came onto the scene, I was a little more timid; I wasn’t sure exactly where to go, how to act,” Pope admits. “I wasn’t paying attention to what I was really putting out there; I think what I put out there was kind of a watered-down version of myself.

"I’m so, so grateful for the success of the first album ... But I think this is a completely different situation: I’m baring it all, really, in my lyrics; I’m showing the good, the bad, the ugly," she continues. "I’m being very vulnerable, but also empowering, and I think that’s where I am, mentally, and also totally through my music, you can hear that.”

"Summer" will officially impact country radio on Monday (June 6). The song and Pope's complete Summer EP are available for download via iTunes.
