Kacey Musgraves' collaboration with Brian Wilson, a song called "Guess You Had to Be There," has been released.

The upbeat tune, which you can hear below, has a melody that sounds a little bit tropical and a little bit country, and features Musgraves and Wilson harmonizing on and trading lines like, "Yeah, I guess you had to be there / Was a hell of a ride / Lines were blurried and hurried / But it felt like the stars had aligned."

"After three tries, Kacey nailed it," Wilson tells Rolling Stone. "I like the way she just slides over the notes -- she has a very cool sound."

Musgraves first revealed, in a tweet, that she was working with Wilson in June of 2014. Back then, the song was reportedly titled "Sharing a New Day," a phrase that's also among its lyrics.

“Had the recent honor of collaborating on a song with the legendary Brian Wilson’s new record,” Musgraves wrote at the time. “Incredible experience!"

"Guess You Had to Be There" is one of 13 tracks on Wilson's upcoming album, No Pier Pressure. The Jeff Beck-produced project, which also features fun.’s Nate Ruess, She & Him and Al Jardine, David Marks and Blondie Chaplin from the Beach Boys, is set to be released on March 31. It is available for pre-order via Amazon.

Musgraves herself is working on her sophomore album; she recently released its first single, "Biscuits."

“They say you have your whole life to write your first record and influence that, and this time there’s not as much time there for me to be able to do that,” Musgraves says. “I just need to focus on that I’ve found my stride and I’m doing something that makes sense to me. I’m just going to keep doing that.”

Musgraves is currently on the road for her 2015 Same Tour, Different Trailer Tour.
