Kacey Musgraves Collaborates With Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys
Kacey Musgraves was born in 1988, the year the Beach Boys achieved their last No. 1 single, 'Kokomo,' but apparently the group's lead singer, Brian Wilson, and Musgraves are still mutual fans of each other.
The 'Keep It To Yourself' singer lent her vocals to 'Sharing a New Day' on Wilson's upcoming solo album, which also includes appearances by Lana Del Ray, Zooey Deschanel and Frank Ocean. Guitarist Jeff Beck is producing the project.
"[The album is] about two-thirds of the way through," Wilson tells Billboard. "We have eight or nine songs done, and we need three or four more songs. Most of it is very mellow kind of stuff, mellow harmony, not very much rock 'n' roll yet. It's a pretty unique album. It's very different than anything I've ever done."
Wilson, who is rumored to also be working on an instrumental album, says he is thrilled with the way the record is turning out.
"This project blows my mind," he admits. "I had no idea we could pull this off!"
The album will be released on Capitol Records. A release date has not yet been announced.
