Alison Krauss Has a Date in Central Park
Alison Krauss will be among the stars joining songwriting legend Carole King and entertainer José Feliciano on Sept. 23 in New York City's Central Park for a free event saluting America's parks. The New York Daily News reports that pop singer Gavin DeGraw, R&B vocalist Eric Benet and folk legend Peter Yarrow (of Peter, Paul and Mary) will also perform.
Slated for Central Park's East Meadow, the event will also spotlight the upcoming PBS documentary 'The National Parks: America's Best Idea' by acclaimed filmmaker Ken Burns.
The concert and film presentation is part of National Parks Week, NYC, a week long series of events taking place in the Big Apple from Sept. 19-27.
Also on the schedule will be a lantern-lit tour of Grant's Tomb on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, and a rare evening tour of Liberty Island.
Ken Burns' six-part, 12-hour series, debuting Sept. 27, tells the story of our national parks, including Yosemite, Yellowstone, The Grand Canyon and more.
