Brad Paisley Supports First Amendment Rights

Brad Paisley is taking a stand for the First Amendment. The country superstar feels so strongly about protecting Americans' freedom of religion, press and expression that he has joined a widely publicized campaign, '1 For All,' to advocate the cause.

"Freedom is what makes America great," he says. "I count myself blessed to live in a country where I can exercise that right every day, whether I'm writing, recording or performing."

The President of the First Amendment Center and '1 For All' founder, Ken Paulson, says Brad's inclusion in the project is crucial. "Brad Paisley's music has entertained, engaged and enlightened millions," he explains. "His work is free speech set to music, and songs like 'Welcome to the Future,' 'American Saturday Night' and 'Alcohol' reveal truths about the world around us."

The reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year is joined by rapper LL Cool J in supporting the effort. "This is our country, and you know our country has a lot of diversity," he states on the campaign's website. "It has a lot of different people in it who have a lot of different ideas. And all of those ideas deserve to be heard. All of them."

'1 For All' launched last July, after a survey conducted showed that only one in 20 Americans could list their rights guaranteed under the First Amendment, which states: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

Other celebrities who have joined the campaign include Mary Chapin Carpenter, Ellen DeGeneres, John Mellencamp and Ke$ha. More information on '1 For All' can be found here.
