Jason Aldean Shares His Hopes for Haiti

While Jason Aldean celebrated the platinum-selling success of his 'Wide Open' album at a private industry party in Nashville on Tuesday, he was thinking how lucky he, his family and friends were to enjoy the riches bestowed upon them, especially when so many are suffering losses in the aftermath of last week's devastating earthquake in Haiti. Prior to the celebration, Jason spoke with reporters and expressed his sorrow over the tragedy happening halfway around the world.

"Our thoughts and prayers are definitely with those people. It's just a tragic thing. I think anybody that sees any of the organizations -- churches and stuff -- that are doing missions over there, I mean, it's such a poor country and any bit of money will help. A hundred bucks to them is like life-changing. They're gonna have to rebuild that whole place ... it just looks like a war zone over there. So, I would just say for anybody who hears of any kind of missions or any kind of donations being accepted to go over there -- canned goods, food, whatever -- this is one of those things that I think everybody should kind of pitch in and help and get them back on their feet."

Many country stars have been helping out. On Tuesday (Jan. 19) in Nashville, Buddy Jewell, Pam Tillis and others took to the stage to perform Handel's Messiah, with all money raised going to the American Red Cross effort to aid the people of Haiti. Tonight (Jan. 22), country superstars Keith Urban and Taylor Swift will take part in the two-hour all-star telethon, 'Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief,' which will be televised on numerous networks, including CMT, MTV, HBO, VH1, ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX.
