RaeLynn is releasing her second single, "For a Boy," to country radio.

The song, co-penned by Laura Veltz, is set to hit radio stations beginning March 23.

The singer's gold-certified debut single, "God Made Girls," was the highest-charting debut from a solo female artist in 2014, giving "For a Boy" a lot to live up to. So, RaeLynn is taking inspiration from her real-life experiences.

"I wrote it about this dinner date I went on, and this guy was super transparent with me and kinda wore his heart on his sleeve," RaeLynn tells ETOnline. "You know, guys always wanna be macho and that kinda thing, so I had this idea of 'for a boy, this guy's pretty transparent and cool.'"

The date must have gone somewhat well because RaeLynn says that the guy is still in her life, but only as a friend.

"I don't think he knows it's about him -- and we'll keep it that way!" she says.

The Voice alum is still promoting her EP, Me, which was released last year, but she says that fans can expect a full-length project from her later this year.

“You know, when you’re writing a song, it’s about writing a moment in time. It’s just crazy, because every song that I’ve written is something that I’ve been through. Really, songwriting’s my therapy,” she says. ”That’s what it’s supposed to be, and that’s exactly what it is for me."

RaeLynn is set to join Rascal Flatts on their Riot Tour 2015 this summer.

"For a Boy" is available for download via iTunes and Amazon.
